Meet Hassene Jeljeli
Hassene Jeljeli is a Tunisian architect, designer and artist based in Tunis. He is the founder of Jeljeli Studio, an architecture and design practice, and JK Lighting, a design studio dedicated to lighting and furniture. His multidisciplinary practice moves between architecture, product design and artistic installations, exploring form, light, material and perception. Working across different scales and disciplines, Jeljeli transforms ordinary materials and familiar forms into unexpected and refined objects and spaces. His work has been exhibited internationally in Milan, Paris and Doha, and is part of an ongoing exploration between design, architecture and contemporary art.
I am interested in transforming ordinary materials into something unexpected giving them a new value, a new meaning and a sense of refinement through design.
Key Projects
- Mystic Lamps: Sculptural Lighting Collection - A sculptural lighting collection exploring the relationship between natural stone, structure and light. Developed through a combination of marble and metal, the collection transforms the solidity of stone into luminous, architectural objects. The collection was presented at Milan Design Week and Paris Design Week, featured internationally by La Repubblica, and exhibited at Le French Design Gallery in Paris.
- Iron Lamps: Lighting Collection - A collection exploring the expressive potential of perforated metal, transforming an ordinary industrial material into sculptural lighting objects through geometry, light and shadow. The collection was presented at Milan Design Week and received international recognition, including winning a Lamp Competition organized by Design Milk.
- Dar Bibi : Residential Architecture - A residential project exploring contemporary living through a dialogue between architecture, light, materiality and the Mediterranean context. The project focuses on proportion, natural light and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
- Anissa Aida Showroom : Tunis - A retail and exhibition space designed for Tunisian fashion brand Anissa Aida. The project translates the identity of the brand into an architectural environment through material, texture, light and carefully composed spatial elements. The project was featured internationally by Designboom.
