Meet Yousuf Ahmad

Yousuf Ahmad is a leading Qatari artist and a foundational figure in the country’s modern art movement. Born in Doha, he has played a significant role in shaping Qatar’s visual arts landscape through both his artistic practice and his contributions as an educator.

Renowned for his experimentation with natural materials, Ahmad developed a distinctive technique using handmade paper derived from palm fibers; deeply connected to Qatar’s environment and traditions. His work blends abstraction with subtle influences from Arabic calligraphy, resulting in textured compositions that reflect themes of memory, place, and identity.

Over the course of his career, his works have been exhibited across the Middle East and internationally and are held in major institutional and private collections.
